Develop the organisations plan for skill development

Register the organisation for SDL purposes.
Appoint, register & empower an SDF.
- (It is not compulsory for organisations to appoint an SDF, but companies who do not appoint an SDF will not be able to claim a portion of the grant awarded by the SETA)
Identify information needed to complete WSP.
Develop action plan to collect information needed.

Establish a skill planning team (Committee)

This committee is not compulsory for company's smaller that 50 pax, but is recommended
This committee should consist of at least:
- Senior Manager, HR Manager, SDF, Line Manager, Union Representative and an Employee Representative.
- Promote SD related activities, identify training objectives and monitor the implementation of the WSP.

Identify & analyse skill needs

Identify organisational, group and individual needs.
Conduct a skills audit and training needs analysis.

Develop solutions to address skills gaps / needs

Develop a training budget.
Determine & record the nature & duration of training required.
Identify, select & record training providers for training identified.

Develop & submit the workplace skills plan

Record company information.
Record information about the employee profiles.
Complete remaining parts of WSP.
Submit the WSP - Closing date: 30 April @ 00:00.

Implement / Monitor the training & development plan

Training will take place in the implementation phase.
Schedules need to be made known to employees for attendance.
Attendance records must be submitted in order for the attendance to be monitored.
Identify & record issues which impede delivery.

Record & report on skills development (Annual Training Report)

Compile the training report and provide feedback to the needed stakeholders.
Conduct SWOT analysis to base your feedback reports on.
Apply for mandatory and discretionary grants.

Evaluate the skills development plan
.

Evaluate effectiveness of overall skills planning process, implementation of the WSP & training delivery.
